The Wiltshire Crop Circles Study Group will be releasing their 2010 calendar shortly. It will be filled with formations which have appeared in Wiltshire fields over the summer of 2009, such as the one above found on Milk Hill, Alton Barnes.
This design appeared on Morgan's Hill near Beckhampton on 2 August in mature wheat and measured approx. 220 ft across. Its unusual square shape was found within an old square farming enclosure – a square within a square!
Discovered on 29 April at the top of Roundway Hill near Devizes. This design was approx. 200 ft in diameter and appeared in oilseed rape. The design resembles a chrysanthemum flower with eighteen petals surrounding a centre of five concentric circles.
This formation appeared very close to the Alton Barnes to Pewsey Road, East of Alton Priors on 13 June. Its elements include wings and moon crescents which have featured in numerous of the 64 designs that have been reported in Wiltshire this summer.
Arriving towards the end of the season, this formation appeared at Tidcombe near Burbage and was one of the most impressive of the season measuring approx. 400ft and displaying some beautiful symmetry and flawless shapes. It appeared on 16 August.
Discovered on 29 May close to the Wiltshire border at Wayland’s Smithy. It resembles ahuge jellyfish moving across the field. It measured approx. 250 ft x 600 ft long. The design hit the local and national press, bringing crop circles back into vogue.
This formation approx. 280 ft in diameter appeared in wheat above the hamlet of Avebury Trusloe (North East of the ancient Stone Circle at Avebury) in a wheat field just above an existing formation in Barley from 25 May.
This design appeared in the vicinity of Stanton St Bernard. It appears to depict a Humming Bird in an almost Aztec style. For more info about the calendar visit www.wccsg.com.
