This Volkswagen Rail & Dune Buggy got away, but there are more like it here.

This dune buggy was built in 2017 using a Fiberfab Clodhopper fiberglass tub mounted to a shortened Volkswagen Beetle chassis. The car is finished in silver over black and red upholstery and powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Work performed since the seller’s acquisition in 2020 is said to have included replacing the clutch, rebuilding the engine, refreshing the suspension, and fitting LED exterior lighting. Additional equipment includes staggered wheels, independent rear suspension axles, tubular bumpers, diamond plate rocker guards, a roll bar, a rear spoiler, a red bimini top, a push-button ignition, and bucket seats. This dune buggy is now offered with a tow bar, a car cover, extra seat upholstery material, spare parts, and a Texas title in the seller’s name listing the car as a 1969 Volkswagen.

The fiberglass bodywork is finished in metal-flake silver with red pinstriping and features a removable red bimini top, chrome headlight buckets, dual side mirrors, tubular bumpers, red-finished diamond plate rocker guards, a roll bar, a rear spoiler, polished exhaust tips, and LED headlights, turn signals, and taillilghts. The seller notes a spot of repaired fiberglass visible on the underside that is believed to be a filled antenna hole, which is shown up close in the gallery.

  • Shock absorbers
  • Front king pins and link pins

The Grant three-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilt column and fronts instrumentation consisting of an 80-mph SpeedHut GPS speedometer with an inset tachometer as well as Stewart Warner gauges for fuel level, voltage, and oil temperature. The digital odometer indicates 225 miles, and true mileage is unknown.
