This Jeep XJ Cherokee got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1998 Jeep Cherokee Classic 4×4 is a modified example finished in dark green over tan cloth upholstery and powered by a 4.0-liter inline-six mated with a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Textured bedliner has been applied to the roof and lower body panels, and additional modifications performed under current ownership include a Smittybilt roof rack, a rear swing-away tire carrier, a Rough Country winch, 17″ alloy wheels, a suspension lift kit, HID headlights, and fabricated steel bumpers. The truck was sold new in Michigan and spent decades in Oklahoma, where it was acquired by the seller in January 2021. This XJ is now offered at no reserve with the a clean Carfax report and a clean Oklahoma title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in dark green, and the roof, lower panels, and bumpers have been sprayed with black textured bedliner. Equipment includes a Smittybilt roof rack, a Rough Country winch, a push bar, a receiver hitch, a swing-away rear tire carrier, fabricated front and rear bumpers, HID headlights, and black wheel-arch extensions.
Later-model 17″ alloy wheels are mounted using wheel spacers and wrapped in 33×12.5″ Nitto Ridge Grappler tires that show 2021 date codes. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums. A 4″ Rough Country lift kit was installed under current ownership and includes replacement rear leaf springs, front coil springs, and shocks as well as a steering stabilizer.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a folding rear bench upholstered in patterned tan cloth with a two-tone dashboard and door panels. Amenities include air conditioning, an aftermarket Panasonic MP3 stereo, power accessories, and all-weather floor mats. The seller states the headliner has been replaced, the sunroof seal is noisy during operation, and the right-rear door window sticks intermittently.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 182k miles, approximately 400 of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.0-liter inline-six was factory rated at 190 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. Engine seals including the rear main seal have reportedly been replaced under current ownership.
Power is delivered to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The exhaust system is said to have been replaced under previous ownership. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration history in Michigan and Oklahoma.
