Throwback Thursday One of the favorite Cypher team pics - the coneheads. This was during a period where I was working 90 hours sometimes. We would meet in the hotel restaurant at 6:30AM then get an early start on the site. Work all day, fixing, testing, and flying. Dinner by 7 or 8. The rest of the gang would have a couple of beers and off to sleep. To make software changes I had to telnet into the Vax at home using the PMs laptop over the crappy hotel phone connection. Kick off the build in batch, come back in a bit for the 1 hour download and hope it didn't fail. But it often did, so sometimes I'd be in bed after 1AM. One of those tired days I was in a coffee and donut fueled fog and picked up one of our cones. I had this random thought that my head would easily fit in the cone, so I tried that. While in the cone I received the vision of this picture, and asked Jim Cycon to take the picture. The rest is history. From left to right is David Walsh, Jeffrey Rios, me, and Sherm Corning. #uav #helicopter #autonomy #sikorsky

Long evenings, but you got to code from your hotel room. I had to spend the night sitting in the truck on site doing my coding! 😀 I kept thinking a bear would poke its head into the back of the truck any minute!

A great aircraft and an event greater crew!

I remember one time in the field you had to connect to the Vax via cell phone and we had to climb up on the top of the cab of the van to get a signal. You typed while Sherm and I held up the cell phone and black drapery sunshade.
