Despite his alcoholism, piggishness, and laziness, Homer still loves his family dearly and would go to the ends of the Earth for them... and has on several occasions. Homer doesn't really need to work hard anyway since he owns the Denver Broncos.

Al may go back to Peg instead of getting some hot T&A, but he still loathes his family with a passion. In a competition between who's the biggest pig, it's no contest. Al Bundy wins hands down.
