Perfumed Spider Lily

Hymenocallis latifolia

Perfumed Spider Lily is a native evergreen herbaceous perennial with basal-forming strap-like arching foliage.  In summer, umbels of fragrant white daffodil shaped flowers with long spidery segments attract butterflies.  Best bloom in rich, moist to wet well-drained soils.  All parts are poisonous if eaten.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance.  Keep soil moist- do not let it dry out.  No serious pests or disease issues, but watch for snails, caterpillars, and mealybugs.

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Woodland Gardens, Naturalized Areas, Native Gardens, Ponds and Streams,  and Containers.

COMPANION PLANTS:  Beardtongue, Swamp Milkweed, Blue Flag Iris
