Hamburger Mattenfilter, or Hamburger Mat Filter, HMF, is a very popular biological filtration originated in Europe.
Favored especially by breeders and hobbyists who maintain a larger number of tanks in a dedicated fish room for its easy maintenance.

Installation is easy –
- You can install the sponge at either the side or the back of your tank, feel free to trim the sponge to the right size with a utility knife
- You can run the outlet of air lifting tube either on the top of sponge, or through the sponge (need to drill a hole)
- Connect the air-lifting tube with an air pump and tubing (air pump and air tubing are not included)
Maintenance is easy – rinse the sponge with aquarium water every 6 to 12 months, or when it is dirty and clogged.
