Greater Stitchwort - Stellaria holostea (a star-like wildflower)
On my morning walk I noticed many of these flowers and I thought they were white campion until I did a search. As you can probably see they didn't look like my photo at all 😆. I have so much to learn about plant identification; it is truly humbling.
This star looking flower is called stellaria holestea or greater stitchwort and it's growing alongside stinging nettle, red campion and bluebells.
It is such a lovely flower to see that I took many photos of it. Now I have one more flower name to add to my extremely limited plant vocabulary. Instead of calling it by its Latin name, I will settle for Greater Stitchwort though.

This is the second time I've seen this flower on Steemit @ctyprocariad but the first time is was called something else. It's very pretty but I don't think I've ever seen it in the wild.
If you look at all the other possible names, you'd be spoilt for choice @gillianpearce.
The flowers have been growing along our lane which is very shady (and possibly a bit acidic ?) so it may be to do with that.
So prettyyy! I like white flowers like these, thank you for sharing! How do you usually search the name of a flower? Whenever I see a flower I like, I would google the look of the flower (e.g. small, six white petals or petals that look like butterflies) but sometimes have a challenge to get the correct name. I've seen apps like "PictureThis" which you can upload your picture and it would identify the flower for you but I have yet to try it.
Good question @marblely. Normally I can find the answer by searching for 'looks like.... + images' and then look for good quality websites (eg RHS even wikipedia :)
In this particular case I first looked up 'white campion' and as the photo didn't match at all I just adjusted my search : 'looks like campion, etc' and then switched to the 'images'.
I dream of having a tricorder though 😍 ...
