A ceremony meant to honor the memories of the victims of Sept. 11 was held on Wednesday night near the Pentagon.

While the event will not be available to the public, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation illuminated its ‘Towers of Light’ Tribute for the public to see from a safe distance.

The ceremony was held at the Pentagon Connector Parking Lot at around 8:45 p.m., and the tribute was illuminated starting at around 9:11 p.m.

It is expected to remain lit through the early hours of Saturday, Sept. 12.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was started to honor the "sacrifice of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001."

Its primary mission is to "make sure that Americans Never Forget those who were lost that day."
