Product Description

It s nearly the end of the holidays and Cleo and Rikki are about to face their last year of high school without Emma, who has gone overseas. Together with Lewis, they re confident they know everything there is to know about Mako Island. But when water attacks them on a full moon, they realize a new, potentially dangerous force is developing on the mysterious island, and a boy with freakish free-diving skills who stumbles upon the Moon Pool could hold the key to understanding the powerful energy.

Thankfully they find an ally in Bella, a new girl in town who reveals an equally surprising twist: she too is a mermaid with extraordinary superpowers. Together, the new trio faces phenomenal challenges as they discover the dark secrets of Mako Island. They use their combined powers to protect the island, face off a catastrophic event and realize their destiny as mermaids.

    Fabulous! I watch it with my 11-year-old daughter. We are hooked. It is so sweet. We binge watched it while binge eating junk food. I'm sad that it's done. Please make more! We love the Zane character. More, please!

    Yeah, I'm an old guy...65 this month to be exact, and I have fallen in love with this series. I used to edit sound in several major U.S. TV series, so I have an appreciation of the effort, talent and artistry that goes into a show like this. Of course the young pretty girls are a factor in my appreciation of this show, but only a factor. The story lines, characters, situations and deeper meanings are what keep me watching. My hat is off to everybody connected with this show because they all did a danged good job.
    I will later get season one and two, of course, but Series Three is where Bella comes in and all sorts of fun begins. FAVORITE MOMENT OF THE SERIES is where Bella comes out on the dock to see what is going on with Rikki and Cleo and insists that "Something magical is going on...isn't it?" Rikki retorts..."There's no such thing as magic!" Right before a water-tentacle leaps out of the jetty and sucks her entire body off the pier. This scene was done with such ease and normality, that the shock of the moment hits you like a brick. (At least it hits me that way...which is why I keep laughing every time I see it.) The acting, special effects, sound effects, music...it's all absolutely perfect. (Which is true of every minute of this show.)
    Other parts I love; Bella's singing, all the moon pool scenes, and the interplay between Zane and Rikki. When I first began watching this show, I figured that Zane would eventually end up in prison or something. It took real talent to get him to the point where he could turn into Rikki's bff. I also loved the discovery of Rikki's true home-life etc. Great feelings and lessons in there.
    I could go on forever, but I'll hold it down to a few important details that have continually held me to this wonderful show;
    1. There are no drugs, alcohol, nudity, or even the typical "social problems" that so many shows throw in to hold the viewer's attention. This show doesn't need that stuff and I'm very grateful that the producer, directors, writers etc., have a deep understanding of that. This show stands on its own without a whiff of that psycho-bilge.
    2. This show provides a great variety of life-lessons and examples of descent behavior. Even the bar is devoid of cigs and booze. All this without a single comment about it. For an old guy like me, it's a very refreshing show where there's never a car-chase, or machine-gun fight, just three normal mermaids confronting life's complexities...WHAT???
    I should also mention, that I've been watching these episodes on YouTube for ages. I paid no money for all that viewing, but I did develop such a love for this show, that I am now buying it on DVD. Meaning...that YouTube can be more of a help to "the industry" than many people might imagine. Another series I will be buying is "Roswell." It's always fun to catch it as a freebie, but I really look forward to bringing it home as my own DVDs.

    For those who are either young or young at heart, this is a very entertaining and fun-filled show set in Australia. It focuses on the trials, tribulations, and love interests of three mermaids who don't even know how they came to be mermaids. While the premise of this show may stretch one's credulity, this is no more problematic than accepting the reality of the majority of TV shows, especially sci-fi with its monsters and end of world scenarios. There is an abundance of Australian eye candy, both the human and natural kind; and, at less than 30 minutes each, the episodes move quickly and have an overall pleasant and relaxing feel about them.

    One mermaid works in Sea World where she interacts with a trained dolphin; one manages a non-alcoholic bar from time to time where she is also involved from time to time with the owner; one is a singer in said bar where she performs with a small band. Throw in one hunky diver and his scheming sister, a mysterious cave which is associated in some way with the Moon, and you have an interesting storyline. The special effects are great and you actually come to believe that you are watching real life mermaids in action. Their underwater swimming is almost balletic and has elements of "synchronized swimming". A catchy opening theme song and its end credits counterpart also adds to the warm feeling that this show imparts.

    A solid G rating allows a broad audience. One negative is the constant obnoxious behavior of the younger teenage sister of the mermaid Cleo. She is overbearing to an extreme and never called on it or properly chastised for her deliberate nastiness and mischievous activity. In fact, her reason for even being a character in this show appears to be non-existent and one wonders why this part was ever created in the first place. The actress playing her is also unappealing, especially when compared to everyone around her. Perhaps her presence is designed to counterbalance what the producers may have thought was too much saccharin from the others (which I absolutely did not find). On the contrary, the behavior of the mermaids comes off as being quite "normal". One problem for them ironically enough is the fact that they have to avoid water when in their purely human form lest they change into a mermaid right in front of people's eyes, since only a few know that the trio are really mermaids. Enjoy!

    Sad that this is the final season of the series. I'm also really sad that Emma is not in this season, she was my favorite character. Bella is okay but Emma is so much better. This season came with a lot of change - Emma leaving, Lewis leaving, the Juice Net Café closing and then Zane and Rikki come to own it, Bella singing various songs, Water attacking the girls on full moons, and Will coming in as a character. So much change but some bad and some made the show even better. I liked how water attacked the girls on full moons, sure is a good twist. Cleo's dad getting married, which was really cool to see. The last episode was really great, but I feel like the ending was a little rushed but that's okay. The last episode wrapped up the series as a whole pretty well and shows how much the girl's have grown and changed since becoming mermaids, except for Emma. It would have been nice to see her appear on the last episode. The series will forever remain in my heart.

    OMG!!!! This show is my favorite!!!!!!!😍😍😍😍😍. I could keep going on and on about it forever!!!!!! I would give it a million stars!!!!!! The first season does not make that much sense. The second season is OK but Charlotte is annoying. (FYI) Charlotte is the girl with red hair she is really mean 😒😒😣😣😈. The third season is very good but there are a lot of changes. Emma is gone and is replaced with a new girl named Bella. I like the character Zane and Rikki. There is also a girl named Cleo.
    But for conclusion this show is about mermaids, but it is not a babyish cartoon. It is much more!!!!!😀😀😀😀

    I have a 6 year old that is obsessed with mermaids, this is due to the previous 2 series. We have be looking forward to the continuation of the season for a long time and it doesn't fail to deliver. My six year old has watched it until the CD's are nearly worn out. At times I also was dragged in to this cracking bit of children's TV. If you like mermaids, or just wish to have a quite house for a couple of hours, this is the DVD for you.
