The story of Seiko began in 1881, when a 22 year old entrepreneur, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo.
Today, after more than 130 years of innovation, Kintaro Hattori’s company is still dedicated to the perfection that the founder always strove to achieve.

From the master craftsmen at Seiko, the Seiko Men's SNK795 Seiko 5 Automatic Black Dial stainless steel Bracelet Watch is a cutting-edge timepiece with a masculine appeal. Featuring a black analog dial and a silver stainless steel band, this watch is packed with style and would be a great addition to your watch collection.
This is an automatic mechanical watch. Automatic watches do not operate on batteries; instead, they are powered automatically by the movement of the wearer’s arm. If the main spring in your automatic watch is not wound sufficiently, timekeeping may become less accurate. In order to maintain accuracy, wear the watch for 8 hours or more per day, or manually wind the main spring by turning the crown. When not in use, automatic watches may be kept charged with an automatic watch winder – a watch storage unit which may be purchased separately.
From Humble beginnings, Kintaro Hattoris Vision for Seiko has become reality. A consuming passion for excellence - imprinted in our Corporate DNA passed from generation to generation. Seiko, for 125 years committed to the art and science of time.
A culture of innovation connects a 19th century Tokyo clock shop with 20th century advances in timekeeping to an extraordinary 21st century "quiet revolution." The first quartz wristwatch changed the history of time.
The first Kinetic marked a new era in quartz watch technology.
In 1969, Seiko Astron, the first quartz wristwatch - was introduced.
In an instant, Seiko exponentially improved the accuracy of wristwatches And Seiko technology firmly established todays standard in Olympic and sports timing.
1984, another celebrated first Kinetic Technology powered by body movement.
Kinetic a quartz mechanism with unparalleled accuracy the driving force behind more worlds firsts.

So far, it has kept good time for a non-certified movement. I will report back if/when I see a degradation in its accuracy (mine is getting 24/7 wear for a while to test this.)
The bracelet has hollow links and end links, so it rattles a bit compared to solid link offerings, but again compared to other watches in its price class the bracelet is actually pretty nice. It is tough to fault this if you factor value - keep in mind what other watches feel like that sell in this price class....
Water resistance: probably the weak point on this model for me, I like a little more water resistance so I don't have to remember to take it off to swim. The clear case back is marked as "water resistant" with no depth. From Seiko's website: If "WATER RESISTANT" is inscribed on the case back, your watch is designed and manufactured to withstand up to 3 bar, such as accidental contact with splashes of water or rain, but it is not designed for wearing while swimming or diving.
some other small plusses: Yes, the watch does have a clear caseback so you can view its parts ticking away inside. Yes the day wheel has other languages as well as English if you were so inclined. Yes, I found the time day and date easy to set. pull all the way out to set time, halfway back for day and date (spin one way to set day, the other to set date).
Other nits to pick: The red second hand is hard to pick out against the black dial, in low light. While there is luminous paint added to the hands and markers, it doesn't glow long enough to be of any real use.
Overall: As a "bottom end" automatic watch, you wouldn't expect much, but I feel this is a great watch for its price, and it feels right at home in my collection alongside timepieces that were far more expensive. A fantastic value that I would buy again with no hesitation.
1. Insert the end of your chosen tool in the hole where the embedded arrow points to on the link, and pull back (think of a shovel being put into the ground and pulled back and up) same concept :)
2. when the link begins to push out from its cradle, use a flat head pair of pliers to grip the tip and pull out. repeat this same process for the remaining links if you need more out.
3. The watch keeps good time as I have worn this all night at work for ten hours straight. Automatic watches will lose or gain a minute or two in a week so this is not unusual.
4. While not wearing the watch, make sure that when you lay it aside for the night, that it lays with dial face, facing up towards this ceiling. This helps the watch to maintain time while it is not being used. I do not know what kind of reserve this watch has but I know that any automatic watch left unworn for more than a day will probably stop. worn daily, this should not be a problem.
5. Nice watch overall, cosmetically appealing, thin, with a good solid feel to it. not bad for the 70 something dollars I spent. I've only had it a day so if any major complications arise, I will update this review. Hope this was helpful to you. Thanks! :)
Tip: Google the watch with the model name, and click images on the Google bar, and you will find many better pictures of the watch, do this before you buy!
This watch is no exeption, and it was Josh H private pictures that sold me the watch, not Seikos official photo. Seiko should send a thank you letter to Josh H for this.
This a watch with classic good looks, with a timeless elegant design, black metallic dial with stick index markers, very nice print on the dial for for the day/date, the Red second hand has a nice contrast to the black dial, makes a uncluttered elegant, easy to read dial.
Luckily this watch has a 38mm case, unlike the todays oversize fashion statement watches, so it is comfortable to wear, you forget it is on your arm until you need to check the time.
My specimen is also very accurate for a automatic, and well within the specifications, so far less than +-5 seconds a day, rivaling many much more expensive automatic watches for accuracy. All in all very much for your Money, and down from 295$ to 65$, it is very good value indeed, I recommend it highy.
