Dharmachakra | Wheel of Law

The Dharma Chakra is a widespread symbol used in Indian religions such as Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. Historically, the Dharmachakra was often used as a decoration in Hindu and Buddhist temples, statues and inscriptions, beginning with the earliest period of Indian Buddhism to the present. It remains a major symbol of the Hindu and Buddhist religions today.

The Wheel of the Law (dharmachakra) is the single most important symbol of Buddhism, denoting the Buddha’s First Sermon in the forest at Sarnath, where he set Buddhist Law (dharma) in motion.

This piece is two-layered. Base-layer is made of 1/4 inch Baltic Birch plywood and top-layer is made from 1/8 inch Baltic Birch plywood. These are laser-cut, sanded, sealed, painted, glued together and a final clear sealing coat is applied. To enable comfortable wall hanging, there is metal-wire with D-rings in the back.
