Nine-spotted, Amata phegea. Dark bluish black moth with nine white spots. 6 white spots on front wing with 3 on back. Moth exhibits Müllerian mimicry as strong resemblance to Zygaena ephialtes which flies at same time in same habitat. Long slender white-tipped antennae is distinguishing mark. Also called, Yellow-belt for the yellow ring on sixth segment of abdomen. Wingspan: 35-40mm. Diurnal. Host plants: Plantago, Rumex, Galium, Taraxacum. Flies: May-August.
