THUJA BRABANT

The trunk runs straight and vertical from the ground to the top. The bark is light green at first and becomes reddish brown when it is a little older. When it is even older, it splits open in long narrow furrows between shedding strips. The buds are not visible and the foliage consists of flat shoot systems with broad scaly needles. Thuja Smaragd grows in a conical shape and is suitable both as a hedge plant or as a single ornamental tree.

THUJA BRABANT
Thuja Brabant is a fast-growing plant that is perfect as a hedge plant. It quickly creates a privacy screen and gives the garden a wonderful sound dampening, e.g. The needles are shiny green and consist of flat shoots with broad, soft, scaly needles. The variety can turn slightly bronze in winter but turns green again in the spring. The bronze color becomes most evident in sun-exposed positions. Most often used as a hedge plant but is also decorative as a free-growing solitary. Because over the years it forms a columnar tree with cinnamon-brown bark and small brown cones. Thrives in sun to partial shade on moisture-retaining, nutritious, loamy and well-drained soil. Avoid soil that is too dry and salt splashes that can cause discolouration.

HOW MUCH WATER DO MY PLANTS NEED?
Newly planted seedlings must have plenty of water. Make sure the soil is moist (not wet) right down to the roots at all times. It is very important and this applies throughout the first and second year. Water until there is frost in the ground, then you take a break over the winter and start watering again when the frost in the ground loosens.

HOW BIG Ditch IS REQUIRED FOR MY THUJA HEDGE?
Depth and width of the trench depends on the pot/clump size. We recommend that you dig 1.5 to 2 x as wide and deep as the diameter of the pot/clump, then the plants get enough loosened soil so that the roots can take root properly. The size of the pot/root ball is indicated in the price configurator under the photo of the thujan.

SHOULD I PRUNE WHEN PLANTING?
You can prune it if you want to even it out, but otherwise it's better to wait until the plant has had time to take root.

SHOULD I FERTILIZE WHEN PLANTING?
No, wait to fertilize your plants until next spring.

HOW DO YOU MEASURE THE PLANT?
The length refers to the plant itself, the root ball is not included.

HOW MANY THUJA BRABANT DOES ONE PLAN PER METRE?
The number of thuja per meter depends on how dense you want the hedge to be from the start and what size you buy: From plants that are 1 meter high, you can plant 3 thuja brabant per meter, while 2 per meter is enough of our 2 meter plants.
