Scarlet Tiger Moth (Callimorpha dominula) I don't have to tell anyone how bright and beautiful this day-flying moth is. Just look at the vibrant colours in the photo, and in this accompanying video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaxZUG3120w Callimorpha dominula,Geotagged,Scarlet Tiger Moth,Summer,United Kingdom

Appearance

It can occur in rare colour forms, one with yellow hindwings and body and one with extended black on hindwings. The three morphs occurring in the population at the Cothill reserve in Oxfordshire, Britain, have been the subject of considerable genetic study, including research by E.B. Ford, R.A. Fisher and Denis Owen.
