Hats off to Martin Galway's music (doing a SID rendition of "Firecracker" from Yellow Magic Orchestra in the high score section), but otherwise the game is quite weak. It's not a fighting game, per se. It's just a war of attrition as you must try and dodge everything while kicking your opponent in the back fast enough before the projectiles wear you down - so there's no real strategy.
At the start it also helps to use timing to hit the yellow flying things, as a row of these things nets you a tea leaf. Get enough leaves, and you score a cup of tea which can be used in a fight to replenish your health if you are close to losing. This feature and the randomly appearing invincibility noodles are the only things that will allow you to cheese the game out so you can complete all the stages - after which they repeat.

And to think that ZZAP thought this was the better of the two... The game's almost unplayable. Whereas the first part was fast and quite rich in movements, here you can't do almost anything and jumping forward is slow and tricky to execute. The opponents are roughly the same and their stamina is ridiculous. The graphics is OK, the title screen music doesn't sound like anything else on the C-64.

A somewhat decent port of a poor MSX sequel to a completely different MSX port of a fantastic arcade game! Blame Konami for being the ones responsible for having this done in the first place! XI

Control scheme is although choppy, but approximately the game plays enough like the original for the most part. 6/10.

Found this way too hard.

The pre boss sections are kinda boring avoid-em-ups and the boss fights are near impossible unless you know the trick to beating them.

The fighting controls are pig awful, nothing like the fluid feeling you get in the IK series.

Good music though! Some points for that. 4/10.

This simple fighting game is actually very good if you like high score games. Music if my favourite too.

Very poor sequel. The chop socky fighters shuffle through their fights with the grace of pink elephants wearing tap dancing shoes.
The silly pre-fight sections, where you are attacked by floating 'things' adds absolutely nothing to the game despite the instructions manual hyping it as an exiting new gameplay feature.
All of the enemies are beaten easily by walking behind them and continually kicking them in the back of the head.
Great title screen music though, and beautiful box art.

Agreed, crap game throughout. Only reason to have it is for the music

Crap sequel of an exciting game, due to the poor gameplay and a slow action.

This was my first game along with Conan. Conan didn't work, though.

So I played this day in and day out for a week and managed to complete all the levels within a week.

Great music and fun 2-player mode.

 Excellent music, nice game! But, it's really Easy with a capital E: you can use the same move to defeat all opponents. They won't have time to react if you get close to them. :|

An old friend of mine in the C64 days of the 80's loved this game. I personally don't like it!

What went wrong? This is game has nothing on the original version of Yie Ar Kung Fu II... Even the Martin Galway music is very weak (note: at one point the tune sounds like the theme Kung Fu Master :) ... All in all, not very impressive at all... :)

Hmm.. Yes, the control scheme is much worse than in the original, so to me this was never fun to play. On the plus side there's nice quite-big characters, and the music is good, especially the beautiful title song (same melody was used by Stratovarius in No Turning Back.. Hmm?)

Nice Graphic, Funny Opponents. Technical a great game but the Control destroy the complete fun
2/10

I loved YAKF II and finished it, even if I must admit that it's not the best beat'em up for C64. Wonderful Galway's music.

Not my sort of game, I think it's pretty crap BUT you HAVE to hear the music by Martin Galway, it's a classic masterpiece.
