Cat Caught Moving Christmas Decorations While Owner Sleeps Delights Viewers

Cat Walter cut the image of the Grinch who stole Christmas after being caught removing festive decorations while his owner slept.

Walter's Scrooge-like antics were plain for all to see in a hilarious TikTok video uploaded on December 5 by user angelwingswalter, from Liberty, central Kentucky.

Viewers were not left disappointed as the clip, captioned "Walter moving Christmas upstairs," immediately delivered by showing exactly that.

From the first second in the video, which can be seen here, Walter could be seen carrying a Christmas stocking in his mouth and away from the fireplace before he started climbing the stairs.

"My cat moving all the Christmas decorations upstairs while I'm asleep," a caption on the video read.

But Walter was not done yet and took on the role of a reverse Santa by removing more festive goodies from the fireplace.

Festive lights, ribbons, and decorations were not safe from Walter's apparent "bah humbug" sentiment.

Newsweek has contacted angelwingswalter for comment via TikTok.

Pet care marketplace website Rover.com said there were several things cat owners could do to cat-proof their Christmas tree during the festive season, which include:

  • Proceeding slowly as most cats are reluctant to embrace changes made to their routine or environment.
  • Making sure ornaments are secure as loose ones can injure curious kitties.
  • Hanging decorations up high to keep them out of reach of inquisitive felines.
  • Being cautious with lights and consider using a cord protector to keep your cat from gnawing on a wire.
  • Restricting access to the tree and keep them out of the room with it in while you are out of the house.
  • Not leaving a catnip present under the tree, instead, save it for when you are ready to open it with your cat.
  • Consider an artificial tree as fallen pine needles can puncture paws and can pose a risk to curious chewers.
  • Cover the base of the tree with a tree skirt or blanket so your cat does not drink it. The water can contain harmful bacteria.
  • Placing your tree in a corner and keeping it away from any furniture that your cat could use to leap onto the branches.
  • Using deterrents such as a few orange peels around the base of the tree, as cats hate the smell of citrus.

The video has been seen an estimated 5.2 million times and liked on some 694,700 occasions since being uploaded to TikTok.

Newsweek found many of the people who commented on the video praised Walter and his apparent penchant for helping out around the house.

Hairy Thing said: "Imagine the tree is completely decorated in the evening and in the morning you wake up and everything is gone."

Spencer mockingly added: "[Walter] helps more around the house than my boyfriend."

Felix commented: "He thought to himself: 'It's Christmas again? No, not with me.'"

Finja Maria posted: "At least he's doing some kind of housework. Mine just sleep or riot in the apartment at night."
