'Amazing and Awful' Tattoo of Grandpa Simpson Quote Divides Opinion

A tattoo of Abe Simpson has been simultaneously hailed as "awful and amazing" after a fan decided to get one of the grandpa's long rants inked.

The 142-word tattoo features a depiction of the yellow character dressed in his war attire, while beneath him spans the quote on a banner.

The clip was shared to TikTok by tattoo artist Jonarton on Monday, where it has amassed 1.3 million views, and can be seen here. Jonarton, thought to be based in the U.K., captioned it: "This tattoo is simultaneously amazing and awful!"

The clip plays Abe's speech in the background, with the quote taken from season four episode 17, "Last Exit to Springfield," which aired in 1993.

Abe says: "We can't bust heads like we used to—but we have our ways. One trick is to tell them stories that don't go anywhere like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so I decided to go to Morganville which is what they called Shelbyville in those days.

"So, I tied an onion to my belt which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel. And in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. 'Give me five bees for a quarter,' you'd say. Now, where were we? Oh, yeah!

"The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones."

It looks as if The Simpsons fan used their leg to fit the entire quote, with Jonarton adding: "Why won't people ask me to do tattoos like this?"

He went into more detail on his Instagram, where he also shared the clip, saying: "I'm not even joking. I'd love to do some crazy/ fun tattoo designs like this. Higher quality of course! Would you ever get a tattoo like this?"
