Greater Spearwort is native to the British isles, but is very much appreciated by our native wildlife. Frogs and toads lay eggs on the underwater leaves of our pond plants each spring and summer. Pollinating insects adore the buttercup yellow flowers that repeat from spring through fall.

Spreads rapidly so not suitable for small ponds unless contained. Can be grown in slow moving or still water. Maintenance is simple. Trim just above the water surface after foliage has died back in Fall. The seed structures that remains after the flowers fade is interesting and adds to the look of the plant. See fifth photo.
