    She Created Her Own Jutsu

Using jutsu that others teach you is one thing, but it takes a whole different level of skill to invent your own.

With help from Neji, she developed a move called Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists, which involves expelling chakra from her tenketsu and concentrating it in her fists in the shape of lions.

In the anime but not the manga, she also created another move called Protecting Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, which involves generating a net made out of chakra blades that's capable of protecting herself and her allies, and slicing up her targets.

Her Name Has A Beautiful Meaning

The name Hinata means 'a place in the sun' and can be written as 日向 - the same character as her last name, Hyuuga. Her given name can also mean “pure white lily.” This is the same type of flower that was left on Neji's grave after he passed away.

She Can See Up To 20 Kilometers Away

The Byakugan grants every user the ability to see long-distance, but exactly how far varies significantly depending on training and individual strength. By the time Hinata is fighting against Toneri, she can see 20 km or 12.42 miles away.

By the time she's an adult, she's no longer using those eyes in combat, she can certainly use them to find out whether her kids or her husband are up to any mischief.

She's Known As The Legendary Queen Of Gluttony

If you were wondering what the most important thing that Hinata has in common with her husband Naruto, look no further: they share a passion for devouring bowl after bowl of Ichiraku Ramen. In fact, for her feat of eating 46 bowls in a single sitting, she earned the title of The Queen of Gluttony. If anything proves that they're a perfect couple, it's this.

Hinata & Naruto Were Meant To Be Together

Hinata's crush on Naruto was clear from the beginning of the series - and it turns out that Kishimoto planned for her to marry the man of her dreams early on. The reason? Hinata was the first person to acknowledge Naruto, believing in him even before his teacher Iruka did.

She's Masashi Kishimoto's Favorite Female Character

When asked about his favorite female character in the series, Kishimoto had this to say:

I’m kind of a little shy of having to mention a character that I myself created… Uhh… I guess maybe I should say Hinata. Yeah, I think I’ll go with Hinata. I guess because she's not violent at all.

She Received Some Of Hamura's Chakra

After meeting Hamura Otsutsuki, Hinata receives a huge power boost in the form of his chakra. She gets this because she's a member of the Hyuuga Clan's main house. She uses this chakra to increase the power of her Gentle Step: Twin Lion jutsu. It also grants her enough power to instantly refill Naruto's gigantic chakra reserves and to destroy Toneri's Tenseigan.

Though this is one of the final moments of her ninja career, she remains an incredibly powerful kunoichi, able to use god tier powers that few other characters have access to.

She Chose Meaningful Names For Her Children

Both of Hinata's children have names that reference the Hyuuga clan in some way.

Let's start with Boruto. It can't have been easy for Hinata to lose her older cousin Neji, especially since he sacrificed himself to save her life. She opted to honor his sacrifice by naming her son after him in a roundabout way.

Though Boruto and Neji don't sound similar to English speakers, Boruto can mean “bolt” while Neji can mean “screw.”

Meanwhile, Himawari's name, (向日葵) can be read as Hyuuga (日向) when the kanji in the first part is reversed. 日向 can also be read as Hinata. So, Himawari is effectively named after her mother. Its meaning, sunflower, is also linked to the meaning of Hinata's own name.

There's A Reason She Keeps Her Hair Short At First

Back in the days of Ninja Academy, a rumor gets started about Sasuke's apparent preference for girls with long hair. This inspires girls like Ino and Sakura to keep their locks long, but inspires Hinata to keep hers short - her crush isn't Sasuke, but Naruto.

But there might be a reason besides love. This might be kind of a stretch, but in Japan, samurai used to cut off their topknots when they gave up their position, to symbolize that they would no longer enjoy the same high social status. Hinata was considered a disgrace within her family and didn't have the status she once had. She also grew her hair long again once her status changed for the better.

It's not confirmed that this history explains her hair, but it's interesting to think about.

There Are Two People She Wants To Fight

According to one of the earlier data books, there are two people that Hinata wants to fight. The first is her cousin Neji, who brutally defeated her during the Chuunin Exams. Sadly, that rematch will never take place.

She also wants to fight her father Hiashi. This hasn't happened in canon, and it's not clear whether it's something she still wants - but it's interesting to think about what kind of battle the two would have if they tried.

Her Grades In Ninja Academy Were Mostly Good

The Naruto Secret: Scroll of Soldiers Official Fanbook offers fans some insight into Hinata's performance at Ninja Academy. Hinata got As in taijutsu, cooperation, and classroom attitude, Bs in genjutsu and ninjutsu, and an F in positivity. We're not really sure why the kids were being graded on positivity, but either way, it's clearly not her strong suit.

She's One Of The Most Popular Characters In The Series

There are a huge number of characters in Naruto, so anybody who cracks the Top 10 can be described as wildly popular. According to official reader polls conducted by Shonen Jump, Hinata is usually somewhere in that ballpark. The highest she's ever scored is #6. Pretty impressive!

    She Has Specific Food Preferences

Though it's not usually relevant to the plot, it's always kind of fun to learn what kinds of foods characters like and dislike. According to the data book, Hinata's favorite foods are sweet things like cinnamon rolls and zenzai (red bean soup with mochi). But she's really not into seafood - her least favorite foods are shrimp and crab.

    Her Hobby Is Pressing Flowers

This probably isn't surprising, but Hinata has a crafty hobby that's pretty adorable. She enjoys pressing flowers. Whether she picks them herself or buys them at the Yamanaka Flower Shop isn't clear.

She Hasn't Completed That Many Missions

Unlike some shinobi who have been on hundreds or even thousands of official missions, Hinata has only completed 33. These include 10 D-rank, 14 C-rank, 8 B-rank, and 1 A-rank mission. She hasn't been on any S-rank missions.

This might be because when she was a teenager, a lot of time was spent participating in wars, not going on assigned missions, and she gave up her ninja career to become a wife and mother as an adult.
