Amusement park ferris wheel. The abandoned town of Pripyat in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, Ukraine. Pripyat town, founded in 1970 for the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant workers and their families now stands as a ghost town within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in northern Ukraine. It was evacuated in 1986 after the explosion at reactor #4. On April 26, 1986, the Number Four RBMK reactor at the nuclear power plant at Chernobyl, Ukraine, went out of control during a test at low-power, leading to an explosion and fire that released large amounts of radiation into the atmosphere.
